Part of the SharpsGuard Eco Range

Since its launch in 2003, our SHARPSGUARD® range has become one of the most trusted sharps containers on the market, with 75% of NHS Trusts choosing to work with us. In our mission to reduce single use plastics in healthcare the SHARPSGUARD® containers are made using at least 40% recycled materials.

All of our SHARPSGUARD® ranges are manufactured to comply and/or certify with ISO 9001, BS EN ISO 23907-1 and UN3291. (Download any certificates you need here.) We have also ensured that these sharps ranges comply with the requirements of the Safe Management of Healthcare Waste guidance published by the Department of Health.

SharpsGuard Eco

Our SHARPSGUARD® eco cyto range is used for the disposal of sharps that have been contaminated with cytotoxic or cytostatic medicines. It is the next evolution of the range, offering a sustainable alternative made from at least 40% recycled plastic.

These containers are for disposal by incineration or other authorised process and is designed for the consignment of waste categorised by the following EWC codes: 18 01 01, 18 01 03*, 18 01 08*, 18 01 09, 18 02 01, 18 02 02*, 18 02 07*, 18 02 08.

To ensure the containers are safe and simple to use there are assembly instructions (where applicable) and locking instructions on the label, along with the details about how to keep the users and contents safe in-between uses.

Our SHARPSGUARD® eco cyto 0.6 is ideal for community healthcare workers and easily fitted into a bag or glove compartment.

Usage

This container is supplied with the lid assembled. Details on how to lock the container and keep the users and contents safe can be found on the label.

Once container is started, fill in the completion area on the label with site, area, and name and start date. When container is locked, ready for disposal, finalise the completion area with name and close date.

Dispose of sharps by dropping them into the container with the needle facing away from you.

Advice

Whilst in use containers should be positioned safely. When the container is full to the fill line (not overfilled) the container must be locked and disposed of safely. Care must be taken at all times when handling all Sharps and Clinical waste containers.
