3M™ Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing Frame Style is a sterile, vapour permeable transparent film dressing
Tegaderm® is a transparent film dressing that is used to cover and protect catheter sites and wounds. It maintains a healing environment for the wound. The comfortable dressing flexes with skin to offer great patient comfort. The picture frame design enables one-handed application of the dressing. The dressing has a breathable, transparent film and allows the exchange of moisture and oxygen. It is made with a hypoallergenic adhesive that doesn’t contain any natural rubber latex and is gentle on the skin. The dressing is sterile and waterproof. It also acts as a viral and bacterial barrier to protect getting contaminated from the outside. The transparency allows the monitoring of I.V. sites without the removal of the dressing. Tegaderm dressing is available in a wide range of sizes and variants.
Highlights
- Waterproof, sterile barrier: protects the I.V. site or wound from external contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, blood and body fluids – in vitro testing shows that the transparent film provides a viral barrier from viruses 27 nm in diameter or larger while the dressing remains intact without leakage
- Transparent dressing allows for continuous visibility to the I.V. insertion site
- Radiologically transparent. Tegaderm products can be safely left on patient’s skin during radiotherapy treatments. Dressing does not act as bolus material, with or without 3M™ Cavilon™ No Sting Barrier Film (CNSBF)
- Breathable film lets oxygen in and moisture vapour out
- Dressing flexes with skin for greater patient comfort
- Can be used to maintain a moist wound environment to facilitate autolytic debridement
- Picture-frame delivery makes placement accurate and easy, minimising potential to stick to gloves or to itself
- May be worn up to 7 days
- Helps to prevent skin breakdown caused by friction
Suggested applications
- Catheter sites and wounds
- Primarily closed clean surgical wounds
- Skin graft donor sites
- First and second degree burns
- Minor abrasion and superficial decubitus ulcer
- To facilitate autolytic debridement through a moist wound healing environment
- May be used as a protective eye covering, e.g. to keep eyes closed during surgery, for patients with a corneal abrasion. Helps maintain eye moisture
For optimal use, apply Tegaderm Film Dressings to clean, dry skin and ensure the edges are well-sealed. Change the dressing as needed or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Note: Do not use Tegaderm Film Dressings on infected or heavily exuding wounds, or on patients with a known allergy to the dressing or its components.
